Dear Friends

The 6th of July 2008 is a special day in life of the Methodist Church. It is the day when the Church celebrates the Reception into Full Connexion and the Ordination of those women and men, Presbyters and Deacons who have been called, tested, and trained to be ‘ministers’ in the Methodist Church. This day marks the end of a process that has lasted several years and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

This year Hull Central Hall has been chosen to host an Ordination Service for 5 Deacons, Richard Beckett, Rona Edwina Eastman, Pamela Jane Gibson, Susan Langdale and Brian John Purchase. (Sue worked in the Hull East Circuit as a lay worker for several years)

It is an honour for the Church to host this event and I’m sure you would want to celebrate with them on their special day. I invite you to come and share in that day by attending the service (Please let me know if you intend to come so that I can arrange a ticket for you, I’m sure the Ordinands would appreciate you being there).

With the honour comes some work, Gill Hood is trying to get a group together to have a ‘spring clean’ if you can help please get in touch with her, she’d be delighted to hear from you. We will need stewards on the day so please contact Sylvia Taylor if you can do this job, (you’ll get a lovely badge). We shall need people to serve refreshments and provide a crèche if required, please contact me if you can help with these jobs

Let’s make the occasion ‘special’ for God, the Ordinands, the Methodist Church and Central Hall. Please pray for Richard, Rona, Jane, Sue and Brian has they approach this time, for the people to volunteer for the various jobs and for me, in my capacity as Connexional Team Representative

God Bless

Peter

Christian Aid Week

This year is from the 11th to 18th May. If you are not contributing in any other way please put your gift in the envelope which you will find with your bulletin on 11th May. Please support this movement which helps poor, ordinary people in many parts of the world to improve their lives. For example £30 can provide a rainwater tank in Bangladesh which helps a family to collect enough clean drinking water for six months. Thank you.

RINGS ON TINS!!

If you remember the tins with rings and crisps, etc. Gathered at last Harvest Festival were stored so that those in need could be given a selection. This store has now run out.  So that we can continue helping those people we should be grateful for any donations of the above items.
