Dear Friends,

Today is Methodist homes Sunday, so today the “dear friends” is from the

Methodist Homes website.

Luke

Each year, the Methodist Church designates a Sunday to recognise and celebrate the work of MHA, its charity for the care of older people. Churches are invited and encouraged to use that opportunity to focus on our work within worship and to support us financially

From 2008, Methodist Homes Sunday has been moved from November to June, and this year falls on Sunday June 8th, although, if necessary, churches are free to change the date to suit local circumstances. We invite you and your church to join with us on our special day, through your prayers and donations.

The theme for 2008 is ‘Milestones or Millstones?’ which ties in with MHA’s 65th

birthday celebrations. Please click 'Milestones or Millstones?' to view the worship

material which can be downloaded free of charge. It includes resources for

ministers and preachers, which outline the chosen theme and information,

prayers and suggested Bible readings, hymns and songs. Copies of this material have

also been sent to all Ministers, Deacons and Local Preachers’ Secretaries.

We also produce promotional material, including gift envelopes,
posters, and flyers,

which are sent to our Circuit Representatives for distribution to churches, and

can be downloaded by clicking on the relevant link. Further material will be available

after Easter.

We pledge to spend the money raised through Methodist Homes Sunday gift

envelopes and collections to support the work of Chaplaincy and in supporting the

spiritual needs of the older people we serve. We are grateful for all the support we

receive from churches across the whole Methodist Connexion. Some of our staff

and volunteers are willing to attend churches to speak about our work or to

conduct a service. Please contact your Community Fundraising Manager to

request a speaker or preacher.
