Dear friends,
Today in our services we meet during Carers week. We will remember carers in our prayers today and our Central Hall neighbours at the Carers Centre on Prospect Street.
I hope you find this information from the Carers week website useful.
Luke
Carers Week is now in its fourteenth year. Originally created by Carers National Association it became a partnership of four charities when Lottery money was secured from 2001-2004.
The partnership has subsequently grown to ten charities; Carers UK, Counsel & Care, Crossroads Caring for Carers, Help the Hospices, Independent Age, Macmillan Cancer Support, MS Society, Neurological Alliance, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and WRVS. Between them these partners now provide all the funding for Carers Week.
The objectives of Carers Week are to:
Each year ensure that tens of thousands more carers know they are not alone, and start to find out about the support and services available to them
Celebrate the contribution that carers make every day of the year
Inform and influence key groups, such as healthcare professionals and employers, who can significantly affect the quality of life of many carers
Raise awareness of the role and value of carers amongst MPs, other key decision-makers and opinion-formers, and with the general public
Each year over 1,000 local and regional partners organise thousands of events and activities for and with carers, throughout the UK.
