Dear friends,
I know that some people attended the ordinands testimony service a couple of weeks ago in Willerby. At the service the two people (Andrew Lindley and Vivienne Smith) from our area who are being ordained told the story of how God called them to serve as ministers and shared some of the joys and frustrations of their journey.
You may be aware that Central Hall is being use as an ordination venue next Sunday. Within the Methodist church, ordinations are held at the annual Methodist Conference, this year the Conference is based in Scarborough and ordinations are being held in and around the town. My ordination was part of the Llandudno conference in 2003. The conference is the “top level” of decision making and I suppose you could call it the “parliament” of the Methodist church.
I will be attending an ordination service in Scarborough, while Peter Ogle will be here at Central Hall. I am in Scarborough as my wife is one of those being ordained. Vivienne has served as a probationer minister in the Hull (East) circuit for the past two years. When I met her she was working as a lay-worker for the church and I know that in many respects the last 20 years I have known her have been leading up to this point.
Can I ask for your prayers for all of those being ordained this year/ Pray that God will bless them and those they work alongside.
Thank you,
Luke
