Advent 3 Three candles are lit.

Leader:     One candle for hope; the second candle for the prophets; the third candle is to tell of

John the Baptist who called people to change their way of living so as to prepare for the coming of Christ.

Reader:     The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not put it out. There appeared a man named John, sent from God: he came as a witness to tell of the Light so that all might believe through him.

Prayer:      God of the poor in spirit, we thank you for John the Baptist and for his call to us to turn round so that we can walk in your way. Make us faithful in waiting and ready for your coming so that we may make ready the way for Jesus to come into our lives. The Lord hears our prayer.

All:   Thanks be to God. Amen.

 Dear Friends,

Last Sunday along with the bulletin you should have found a red leaflet detailing Christmas services in the city Centre. In addition to this Selby Street have produced a leaflet detailing services including 11.30pm Midnight Communion on Christmas eve.

This evening at Central Hall we have the choir carol service. Included in the service are four short sketches, intended to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.
