Dear friends,

St. Giles Church Copmanthorpe -York, Copmanthorpe Methodist Church - York, Priory Street Baptist Church – York, Princes Avenue Methodist Church – Hull, Preston Road Methodist Church – Hull, Narborough Road Methodist Church – Leicester, Aldbrough Methodist Church – East Yorkshire, New Ellerby Methodist Church – East Yorkshire, Toll Gavel Church – Beverley, Great Hatfield Methodist Church – East Yorkshire, Skirlaugh Church – East Yorkshire, Withernwick Methodist Sunday school room – East Yorkshire, Selby Street Methodist Mission – Hull, Methodist Central Hall- Hull.

Just some of the churches I have enjoyed being part of. Each of them was different. Each of them was based in a different building. Some put an emphasis on work with youth, some with the retired. Some preferred modern music, others traditional. Some had an obvious passion for mission, in others it wasn’t so easy to spot. Some had a strong power base clinging on to power; others seemed to be without direction. However each one had something in common. In each one I felt accepted but more importantly in each one I experienced God.

Some readers will be able to identify with my story of different churches, I am aware that others have been at Central Hall since it’s creation almost 50 years ago. In those nearly 50 years there will have been many changes. Likewise some readers have been part of Selby Street for decades.

At Central Hall another change takes place today. Sunday worship will be held in the “bank”. I hope this move will bring us closer together as we enjoy intimacy with one another and with God. Some will find this an exciting development; others will not be keen at all. Please be assured this move is being reviewed regularly. Wednesday lunchtime worship will continue in the Prayer Chapel.

Please pray that we will all be aware of the needs of each other as we seek to discern His will together.

Luke.

Central Hall Anniversary

The Central Hall Anniversary services are being held on Sunday March 1st. The Family service will be led by Rev. Andrew Foster (A hospital chaplain and magician based in York). Evening praise will be led by Rev. Barbara Routley (Hull West), who preached at last years Women’s World Day of Prayer Service. The anniversary rally is on Thursday 5th March, the guest speaker is Rev. Malcolm Grundy. Would group leaders please submit their reports for the brochure to Margaret Fowler no later than Sunday 1st February. Thank you – Luke
