The flowers on the Communion Table given by John Alderson in memory of his grandparents
Dear friends,
On Wednesday of next week (25th) we begin Lent with our Ash Wednesday service at Lunchtime (12.30pm). This will be a communion service.
This year Christian Aid are encouraging us to “Count your Blessings” during lent.
The charity tells us:
It's easier to give something up for Lent if you've got something to start with.
Far too many people in the world don't even have life's basic necessities.
Count your Blessings through Lent – and help in the fight against global poverty.
Every day respond by making a donation to the work of Christian Aid, supporting people who don’t have those things we often take for granted.
By working together and each playing our part, we can make a real difference to the lives of millions of people in developing communities around the world.
Make Lent count this year; through the money you give, though the prayers you offer and through the actions you take.
Your count your blessings leaflet is included with the bulletin. Do try to follow it each day in lent and indeed “Count your blessings”.
God Bless,
Luke
Important Notice to all Church Members From Luke
It appears there is a scam going round the Methodist Church in which people try to obtain funds by deception. Please make sure that any help given is approved by Luke and comes only from the benevolent fund.
Appeal for food
Appeal for food for the homeless. Our Store Cupboard is now empty! We would be grateful for donations of tins, with ring pulls, of beans or suitable funds, crisps, chocolate, biscuits or anything you think would help these people. We have so much – please be generous.
