Dear friends,
In “Past Mortem” by Ben Elton, the author tells a gruesome story of murder and revenge. Linking the characters is their memories of school some 20 years previously and relationships re-kindled by a social networking website. Music from the 1980s and comments on how the characters have changed provide a backdrop for this fantastic story.
In the story the past fearfully links up with the present.
Today, although not fearfully, our past links up with the present. At Selby Street we celebrate Holy Communion. During the service we remember Jesus and his disciples and also recall communion services we have been part of over the years.
We also celebrate the anniversary of Central Hall, almost 50 years. No doubt remembering those who have been part of anniversary celebrations, no longer with us.
But it’s not just about the past and the present, what about the future? Any food gives us energy, energy to work, energy for the future. I pray the communion service at Selby Street and Anniversary celebrations at Central Hall indeed give us energy for the future energy for work. Work for serving our Lord.
God Bless,
Luke
Please note the property and finance meeting on Monday is now at 3pm.
