 Dear Friends

On Monday morning I took my dog to the vets for her annual health check and vaccine booster. I had thought the Vet might say Pringle had spots (she’s a Dalmatian of course) but she didn’t! She got a thorough examination. The vet listened to Pringles heart, looked at her eyes, felt her tummy, looked at her teeth and ears, she also looked under her tail.

Then the vet gave her the booster. It happens every year, we do this to make sure Pringle stays healthy all through the year.

My trip to the vet got me thinking about us, not us going to the vets for a vaccination or even the doctors for a health check but a spiritual health check.

I wonder when the last time was we had a spiritual health check. When was the last time, we examined ourselves and not looked at our health but our relationship with God. Our prayer life, bible study, worship and spirituality. After the examination then the boost. What could the boost be? Perhaps attending a large worship event like Spring Harvest.

The point I am trying to make is that a boost is OK, such as where I was last week, but the boost has to be taken with the examination. Likewise a great time of worship is not the same if not as well as a spiritual health check.

So coming to church and having a great time is only part of it. A good relationship with God is just as important.

God Bless,

Luke

Friends First Letter and Flyers

Dear All,

We have been contacted by the BBC who are looking for applicants keen to take part in a new programme which they have described as being a cross between the Challenge Anneka and the Krypton Factor. The details are below. Any group of three interested (all three people would have to know each other and apply together) should fill out the form and send it directly to the email address below. The group members should be available for about six weeks starting from June 22.

Drop Zone is a new, primetime adventure series for BBC1 and we are looking for contestants to take part.

Our eight teams will comprise three members who know each other, whether that is through work, a shared sport or hobby, or even family.

In contacting the Methodist Church, we are interested in priests and also people within the church community, who share a sense of adventure. We have been approaching members of the public in professions and trades ranging from Law firms to the Fire Service and would love to see some teachers in the mix. We have so far had interest from a broad spectrum and the dynamics have been really varied and interesting.

I do hope that this opportunity appeals for the exciting and fun challenge that

it is and especially, that you might be happy to spread the word.

Please find attached a poster and an application form. Anyone interested should
send their queries / applications to dropzone@bbc.co.uk
