Dear friends

What a joy this evening’s service promises to be. Our stewards play an important role in the life of Central Hall. The constitutional practice and discipline of the method church reminds us that “The church stewards are corporately responsible with the minister having pastoral charge of the Local Church for giving leadership and help over the whole range of the church's life and activity. They are particularly charged to hold together in unity the variety of concerns that are contained within the one ministry of the Church. To this end it is their responsibility to uphold and act upon the decisions and policies of the Church Council.” (663)

The stewards and I share in leadership of Central Hall. I have certainly valued their support and colleagueship as we have worked together over the last couple of years. The stewards work as part of a wonderful team. Doris always is a great encourager, before, during and after services as well as at other times. Edna is a great friend and often sees common sense when I chat to her. I don’t think anyone can question Rogers enthusiasm for his Lord and Church. Roger is always able to see the positives. Marjorie always does a brilliant job at making the stewards rota and her presence before is always a calming influence. I particularly like Gill for her honesty. We always know where we stand with Gill. Pam is another of our stewards who has a calming influence. Sylvia is very good at encouraging when it is needed and not encouraging when it is not needed. I always know that when Mike is about to pray I will feel uplifted and encouraged, just before the service begins, it’s great!

I could go on praising the stewards but they would only get embarrassed.

I do hope you enjoy the service,

God Bless

Luke

Vision day

You may recall a few weeks ago David Robinson wrote in the bulletin about progress with the redevelopment scheme. He mentioned a day to look at and discuss our future thoughts. This will be on Tuesday 30th June 10am-3pm at Bishop Burton Methodist Church. The day will be led by Trish Mitchell the district development enabler and is open to anyone who wishes to discuss the future of Central Hall. Drinks will be available on arrival as well as use of a kitchen throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch.

I realise transport may be an issue for some of us, so if you require a lift please let me know. Likewise if you can offer a lift please let me know.

On 30th June to coffee bar will be closed.

Man Church!

Last Tuesday the preachers of the three Hull circuits came together for a time of learning and fellowship. The next event is on 20th October at 7.30pm at the Endsleigh Centre, Beverley Road. This is being organised by me and is open to anyone(not just preachers) from the Hull Mission Circuit. The evening will be led by Rev. Ben Norton who is an Anglican pioneer minister. He is involved in setting up a church specifically aimed at men and will be sharing some of his experiences with us.

I do hope you can make it – Luke
