Dear friends,
As you may be aware, each year, every minister is required to take a step back and reflect on a particular area of the ministry they exercise. That reflection is guided and supported by an accompanist. This Accompanied Self Appraisal is held in the spring of each year.
On 29th March I asked for feedback on my involvement in the concept of the “Kings Centre” project a partnership involving the Methodist Church and Hull CVS. The feedback was sought through a simple questionnaire printed in the Bulletin. Each week 140 of these newsletters are produced and are distributed to worshippers, housebound members, coffee bar users and copies are made available to any building user. I would like to thank all of those who completed the questionnaire.
Of these 140, 16 replies were received. Replies were to be handed to the main office or coffee bar. About half of the newsletters go to current worshipping congregation members. I was quite content with the 11% return. The questionnaires asked a number of questions about the reader’s awareness of and opinion on the project.
It was encouraging that each person was aware of the project. Almost 70% of readers had had enough input into the concept. All except two who did not reply thought it was right I should be involved the leadership. All but one though my involvement was about right. One said not enough!
No one felt my involvement caused an adverse affect on my ministry. Half of the respondents knew who was on the steering group and half felt they were being listened to. About half had attended to AGM. Almost two thirds were church council; it was encouraging that non-church council members had responded.
I was also encouraged to read other comments made: “praying for success”, “pleased with name” and “partnership is the best way forward”
To conclude as a result of the consultation I hope to communicate the progress so far in a greater variety of ways as well as encouraging people to come to the vision day on 30th June. The vision day is open to everyone and you will be most welcome.
Once again thank you,
Luke
Vision day
You may recall a few weeks ago David Robinson wrote in the bulletin about progress with the redevelopment scheme. He mentioned a day to look at and discuss our future thoughts. This will be on Tuesday 30th June 10am-3pm at Bishop Burton Methodist Church. The day will be led by Trish Mitchell the district development enabler and is open to anyone who wishes to discuss the future of Central Hall. It would be good to see as many as possible. Drinks will be available on arrival as well as use of a kitchen throughout the day. Please bring a packed lunch.
I realise transport may be an issue for some of us, so if you require a lift please let me know. Likewise if you can offer a lift please let me know.
On 30th June to coffee bar will be closed. Luke
