Dear friends

On 30th June a “Vision Day” was held at Bishop Burton. The weather could not be better. The day led by Tricia Mitchell the York and Hull Methodist District Development Enabler was an opportunity for everyone to get together to enjoy fellowship and share thoughts and ideas about our ministry at Central Hall.

The day began with an ice breaker, where we were invited to look at various pictures and decide which one best gave the image of what church should be. Words were suggested which went with the pictures. “Family Friendly” “Church should be vibrant and colourful” and “a gateway to new beginnings” were among the 18 suggestions. I picked a picture of a river with lots of stones, and suggested “inclusive refreshments”. My desire is that church is a place where all sorts of different people can be refreshed in a variety of ways.

We then split into groups to decide what were the vital elements of our faith. I made notes including, Service, Not for profit, Constant, Open and Presence in my book.

We took our own lunch and some of us sat outside in the glorious sun. After lunch we focused our thoughts on Central Hall. We tried to come up with three priorities for our work.

They were:

  • Spend more time together
  • Pray more
  • Maintain our city centre presence

But this is not the end. I know not all found the date and time convenient so a follow up meeting is being planned for Thursday 1st October at 7.30pm at Central Hall. Again this will be open to all whether you were able to make the day or not. It would be great to see you there.

God Bless,

Luke
