Dear friends

Hebrews 13v8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

This passage this text comes from tells us three things about our faith. It tells us with Jesus there is consistency. Early next year Central Hall celebrates 50 years. In the last 50 years many changes will have taken place both within the church and in the wider world.

Designer labels, “Happy Meals” and children having weekends with another parent are changes that I can think of immediately. Life has changed, Jesus is the same, and the way as a church respond to Christ has to be different.

Secondly we learn of confidence that the Lord is our helper. Whatever generation we are part of there has to be confidence. Confidence in God, confidence that he will be consistent and always present.

Finally we learn of a caring God, who cares for all. As a church we should continue to do that.

I am reminded of that great hymn.

Then let the servant Church arise,

A caring Church that long to be

A partner in Christ's sacrifice,

And clothed in Christ's humanity. (HP 804)

God Bless,

Luke

P.S. I have planned a meeting to pursue our thoughts on the 50 year celebrations at Central.  This is to be 25th August at 7.30pm at Central. Anyone is free to come to this meeting.

Strength through Adversity (Concluding Part)

By Richard

I am now truly walking in the path of God, in complete unconditional faith that in His time my prayers would be answered. And now I’m so happy to say my prayers have been answered!! I have a room in a hostel, Praise the Lord!! The first stepping stone in returning to a home of my own all in God’s time and in His way.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everybody for their kindness and support especially Luke, a one off for sure, a great preacher, so genuine and supportive. An inspiration to me. When my belongings were stolen the first time Luke, I remember, said “You will get through this Richard” although I was feeling lost after having everything I owned stolen. He was right, of course. Material things come and go people, friends are for ever. Thanks from my heart Luke and also Debbie in the tea room, plying me with cheese toasties cups of tea and coffee!! Always a smile, a laugh and a sensible word, a calming relaxed aura Debbie has! She let me store my belongings during the day so I could go to appointments and such, did my laundry when she was able and allowed me to get a wash and a shave in the morning. A heart of gold has Debbie. And to all the regulars at Central Hall I have come to know, heartfelt thanks. I had no idea what I would have done without your kindness and support. But remember this; you have not seen the last of me yet! I’ll be seeing you every Sunday at services and others at bible study, thanks to Ron and Sylvia for their hospitality. And finally Roger so enthusiastic about his Lord the enthusiasm has rubbed off on me! Golf, snooker, badminton, or table tennis I hope we can continue (PTL Roger I got it in)

So many, so kind, John, Gill, Marjorie, Gordon, David, Margaret, Eileen, Brigitte, Ian, Diana, and Edna.

From Therapy services to education development, fisherman’s mission, choir and music group.

God Bless You all!!

Richard
