 Dear friends,

Today is the start of Prisons Week. We live in a troubled world where it is easy for some to lose hope, and that can be particularly true for those affected by the reality of crime. The challenge of Prisons Week 2009 is to “hold fast to hope” – a hope that is not just a fanciful optimism but one that is rooted in the Christian hope that the divine spark is in all people, that no-one is beyond redemption and that change does and can take place. Please join us in prayer this Prisons Week for the many people affected by the reality of crime and imprisonment, as we explore what hope can be for all those affected and how people and relationships can be restored.

The Prisons Week Prayer

Lord, you offer freedom to all people. We pray for those in prison. Break the bonds of fear and isolation that exist. Support with your love prisoners and their families and friends, prison staff and all who care. Heal those who have been wounded by the activities of others, especially the victims of crime. Help us to forgive one another, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly together with Christ in His strength and in His Spirit, now and every day. Amen.

The text for Prisons week we shall look at the Central Hall service this morning:

Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who has promised is faithful. And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another. Hebrews10. 23-25

Which ever service you take part in this week please take time to say the prayer.

God Bless,

Luke

 CHILDREN IN NEED

"Bring a bear to church" day

Hull Methodist Central Hall are celebrating BBC Children in Need day on 20th November in a special way.

All who call in at the building on King Edward Street in Hull city centre and being invited to bring a teddy bear with them. A charge of £1 for BBC Children in Need will be made for bringing a bear. At 12.30pm a teddy bears picnic will be held in the church coffee bar where bears will enjoy a special picnic with their owners. Anyone who doesn't bring a bear will still have the opportunity to give and yellow Pusdey Bear themed food will be available in the coffee bar.

Rev. Luke Smith minister said, "We hope to raise lots of money for children in this fun way, this is first time we have supported Children in Need in this way".

Hundreds of people use the building during the seven days a week. The building is in use. A typical Friday at Central Hall includes a Friday Coffee morning and afternoon Friendship Club with guest speaker.
