Bible Study

The Bible study at Miss Bielby’s, 12 Shardeloes Court, on Thursdays at 6.30 pm with Deacon Peter Ogle. All are Welcome.

Little Angels

We are a friendly group having adult talk, as well as baby talk. Children love doing all the crafts and all the messy things, which you don’t always get out at home, and the children love one of our helpers (Jacky) who may I say is wonderful, and has helped me a great deal, in all areas. The children here play very well and all get on really well.

Selby St. News

This year is going by far too fast or is it that at Selby St we have been having such an exciting time.  To start with the bad news we no longer host the Girls brigade company, we wish them every blessing with their leaders in the their new home at the Boulevard Baptist Church. Our toddler group during the summer continued to meet with some older siblings coming along and even had two brilliant family trips out to Sewerby Hall Bridlington and Honeysuckle farm; thanks to funding from Gateway, regeneration programme.  This fund has now supported us to set up a youth night, so soon we shall be launching it on a Tue night.  In the summer we also took a small group to Sleights the retreat centre near Whitby, we explored prayer in a creative and interactive way, well done to everyone for the beautiful prayer stars they made, and the openness and sharing we had! Our last 24 hour of prayer was very quiet and so we hope you will join us in our next one noon 24th - noon 25th Oct. and yes it does fall on the clock change once more so 25 hour of prayer!!!  The last exciting thing we were part of was the Pram race, we entered as a team we the other churches in our area.  Our pram and dressed up characters of nativity scene was to travel down Hessle road very slowly, with the Kings giving out chocolate coins, as we decided the 'last shall be first', and this would give us maximum coverage.  I was 'Mary' in the pram slightly nervous but I figured the weight of me, we would not be going fast, however 'Joseph' was rather fitter and more competitive than I figured and flying down Hessle road in an antique silver cross pram, at high speed is an experience I never want to repeat, he did slow down when he realise my screams were real, so we finished third.  The main reason for our participation came afterwards, because we had some gazebos on the fair to demonstrate the varied work the churches do across our neighbourhood and serve people with drinks and a fair trade stall. We also had some prayer stations and I had many interesting conversations with people who used to go to church.  Our regular meetings continue so drop in on any especially lunch to see the guys cooking outfits. We  have changed 'Come as you are' the exploring faith group to earlier on Tues so start with lunch at 12.30 with the best homemade soup in the world. Look forward to seeing you.     Jacky
